Born and raised in the heart of Coastal Georgia, Kyle Rutland grew up with saltwater in his veins and a natural connection to the boating world. Surrounded by the beauty of Savannah’s waterways, he developed a fascination with boats from an early age—one that quickly grew into a lifelong passion. By age 17, Kyle had already earned his Captain’s license, a milestone that marked the beginning of a career defined by dedication, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the marine industry. immediately after graduating high school in 2008, Kyle stepped into the world of mega-yachts, day-working at a local shipyard before earning his first permanent crew position aboard a 158-foot yacht. His early years at sea exposed him to the demanding pace and intricate operations of large vessels, and after several years in the deck department, he transitioned into engineering. There, Kyle discovered a new love: understanding the mechanics behind what makes a vessel truly come alive. That hands-on knowledge of how a boat functions—from engine room to helm—became a cornerstone of his professional identity.
In 2015, Kyle returned home to Savannah and joined the family-run TowBoatUS operation, working alongside his father, a man he deeply admires. In this environment, he learned how to transform bare hulls into custom-built creations—projects shaped by determination, craftsmanship, and pride. The reward of building something with his own hands sparked a renewed appreciation for the art and effort behind every vessel. It’s a feeling Kyle believes is unmatched: the tangible sense of accomplishment that comes from seeing a dream become something you can touch, feel, and captain.That same passion for bringing dreams to life led Kyle to his next chapter: Top Shelf Yacht Sales. What began as a weekend side hustle blossomed into a full-time calling—one rooted in genuine connection and a desire to help others experience the joy of boat ownership.
